Over the last twelve months, at least a dozen friends have posted videos or pictures of their skydiving exploits, evidently the new normal. A few others have emerged as repeat offenders of travelling to where the adrenaline bug takes them—bungee jumping, paragliding, mountaineering, kayaking, deep sea diving. The least intrepid of my acquaintances on social media have attempted snorkelling at the minimum. A mild hike in Ladakh being my embarrassing claim to adventure, I admit to a little resentment and, more so, to a grudging respect.
