Here’s a dilemma for you, old sport: two glamorous Long Island estates with a cinematic connection to Leonardo DiCaprio are for sale—but which to buy? On one hand, there’s the Kings Point mansion that doubled as Jay Gatsby’s home in The Great Gatsby. The 14,551-square-foot, 18-bedroom castle was built in 1928 and has a waterfront view. The 7.7-acre property, which is listed for $85 million, also comes with some Gatsby-worthy amenities, including a bowling alley and a nine-car garage.
For considerably less money, you could own the Old Brookville estate that was once the actual home of Jordan Belfort, whom DiCaprio portrayed in The Wolf of Wall Street. Listed for $3.4 million, the 8,700-square-foot mansion has five bedrooms, a racquetball court and a “ballroom-size” living room.
Let the buyer beware: Both properties have a history of scandal. Belfort’s house was seized by the government and sold in 2001 to help pay the $110 million owed to his fraud victims. As for the other estate, spoiler alert—DiCaprio was shot to death in the pool.
