Summer camps have been around since decades. You have the usual suspects: Dancing, singing, art, sports etc. In the past few years pottery and Feng Shui have also gained traction. But kids today are queuing up outside adventure camps clamouring for a chance to get in.

Adventure camps are a big hit on parents’ wallets, but a huge score in kids’ hearts. These camps have a set number of children they take in each programme, so to meet the demand, either new camps crop up or existing camps increase the number of programmes on offer. The minimum in a batch is about seven children and the highest can go up to 120. This sort of summer camp ranges in cost, anywhere between Rs. 600 to Rs. 2,500 per night.

Some camps have increased the number of programmes and consequently have grown by up to 50 percent. Most camps work on a first come, first serve basis, so its important you sign in your child early.
The average number of summer camps across categories has increased by at least 20 percent. In some cities, the figure goes as high as 30 percent. Also, summer camps are going local by setting up shop in every area of the metro with different offerings — pottery classes, dance classes, art classes, sports etc. Happy fun in the sun!
