TED (“Technology, Entertainment and Design”) isn’t half as well-known as it deserves to be. In our opinion, the best conference in the world, it’s all about “Ideas Worth Spreading.” Every year some of the brightest minds in the world jostle to get in. To the audience that is. On stage, it gets even better.

Past speakers have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Al Gore, Larry Page and Sergei Brin before Google became a verb, Bono, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, and oh, so many more. (As of this writing, there are already close to 500 talks on ted.com , for free viewing.) New technologies have been unveiled here, crusades have been started, and yes, a darn good time is had by all. Now, here’s the cool bit. TED is coming to India. TEDIndia will run from November 4 to 7, at the Infosys campus in Mysore. TED isn’t releasing the speakers list yet, but we’ll post it online the moment we get it.

It costs a rather hefty $2,400 to attend. Caveats: having the cash to spare doesn’t guarantee you’ll get in; you must fill up a registration form and they’ll decide based on how you pitch yourself. The good news for the less loaded — and bankers — there are 100 TED Fellowships available, which get you in for free. The screening process is even tougher for those, naturally. Sorry, bankers.
