Moto Morini Scrambler

Moto Morini is an old, Italian motorcycle brand name that has made famous motorcycles, like the quirkily named 3 1/2 or Three-and-a-Half. Like many of the old brands, it has had a rocky transition into modern motorcycling. Today, Moto Morini is a small, independent brand that builds a number of motorcycles based on their well-regarded, powerful and very-likely-to-hooligan-it-up engine, the 1,187 cc Bialbero Corsacorta. Enter Vardenchi, a Mumbai-based motorcycle modification house that’s now beginning to import Moto Morinis into India. Vardenchi will also build a custom Morini that will be sold and exported to Europe shortly.

To us, its most exciting motorcycle is the Scrambler, which looks like a monster with no intention of calming down. It uses a 117 PS version of the engine and that’s a lot of power. It is, of course, a super premium motorcycle. Which means you don’t just pay the Rs 29 lakh (ex-Mumbai) and get one. You also configure your model with carbon-fibre and metal accessories that are hand-assembled in Italy before the bike is sent to you. This takes three months. Vardenchi says you can book one right now, though its network will start showcasing the Scrambler and its other cousins later this year.
