Play workshops for children in summer
For the past few years, Junoon—co-founded by Sanjana Kapoor and Sameera Iyengar—has been hosting the Summertime Arts at Play workshops for children during the months of May and June.
The host of workshops, conducted by professionals, aims to give children an insight into the world of theatre and related arts. This year, they will be held in venues across Mumbai, in Kandivili, Khar and Matunga.
And none of this is as sombre as it may sound. There is lots of fun to be had in sessions that teach children the skills of juggling and clowning, puppetry, team-building games, explorations of body movements and alignments. Other workshops bring theatre closer to children by using it as a tool to understand text, or creating miniature versions of an entire production, and theatre exercises.
Unfortunately, all this is just in Mumbai.
