Shortage of skilled professionals is the biggest stumbling block in the growth of the real estate and infrastructure sector in India, according to the latest report by Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) titled ‘Real Estate Construction Professionals in India by 2020’. With an increasing level of urbanisation expected in the coming decade, RICS expects a shortage of over 85 percent across various professional categories (The cumulative figure is about 44 million by 2020). What makes matters worse is the dearth of educational and skilling institutions in the country.
