This phone is a glorious piece of telemetry.
The most important aspect of the iPhone 4 is its scintillating screen. Apple calls the screen a Retina Display. That is, it’s got as many pixels per inch as the human eye can distinguish: A whopping 960x640.
If you didn’t find the camera on the 3GS up to the mark, the iPhone 4 now shoots pics at 5 megs. There’s tap-to-focus and an LED flash for better flexibility. The front cam can shoot pics and take videos too, albeit at VGA 640x480.
Video recording now gets bumped up to 720p at 30fps. There’s tap-to-focus available during recording and an LED light to assist during low light. You can download the official iMovie app from the App Store for $4.99 to edit videos directly on the phone.
Other phones may have had video calling for a while but Apple’s implementation is, nevertheless, convenient. Called FaceTime (only available over Wi-Fi, for now), you can video-chat using the phone’s front or rear facing camera with another iPhone 4 user.
Looks and performance? At 9.3 mm, it’s the world’s thinnest smartphone yet. The body’s all metal, after Apple’s two-year dalliance with plastic. The glass screen is ultradurable and much more scratch-resistant too. It uses the same processor as in the iPad, Apple’s own A4 chip which runs at 1GHz, and comes preloaded with iOS4, Apple’s newest revision, which supports multitasking, folders, enhanced email, iBooks, wireless keyboards, etc. Also worth mentioning: 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi N, a three-axis gyroscope and 7/14 hours talktime on 3G/2G.

ITALIAN RHAPSODY
First TAG, then Armani and now it’s Versace’s turn to launch its communicator. The Versace Unique is crafted from ceramic by ModeLabs: 18K yellow gold-finish, hand-crafted leather and a sapphire crystal screen. But it’s the tech that has us interested.
The Unique handles all the duties of a phone — 3G, email, multimedia, and a 5-meg cam with flash. And it comes with Dolby Mobile surround sound — all courtesy LG.
