To B-School or Not to B-School

There used to be a time when students used to rush toward B-schools immediately after their under graduation. But, for the second year in a row, students are opting to get some work experience under their belt before they apply to MBA programmes.

Last year, figures from MBA portal Coolavenues.com showed that students over the age of 25 — more than three years of experience — accounted for 8 percent to 15 percent of the total students in India’s top 25 B-schools (carried in our June 19, 2009 edition). This year Coolavenues tells us that the numbers have gone up to 12 percent to 25 percent.

Either people are still wary of the slowdown and are opting to make money while they can or they have realised the value that work experience adds before you go in for further studies.
