The 17th milken institute global Conference took place in late April at the Beverly Hilton, the swanky hotel that also hosts the Golden Globe awards. Attracting more than 3,500 executives, billionaires, philanthropists, scientists, celebrities like Sean Penn and Charlize Theron, and others, it is often called “Davos with palm trees”, a reference to the World Economic Forum, another fabulous confab of the rich and powerful.
