Narendra Modi, who will be sworn in as India’s 14th prime minister on May 26, met senior BJP leader LK Advani at his residence in New Delhi. This was the first formal meeting—lasting 40 minutes—between the two, following BJP’s resounding victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls

70,185 is the number of retweets (till last count) of Modi’s victory tweet: “India has won! Bharat ki vijay. Achhe din aane wale hain. [India’s victory. Good days lie ahead.]” After the PM-designate led the BJP to a landslide win in the Lok Sabha elections, he took to Twitter to announce his triumph. His declaration became India’s most-shared tweet and “the fastest to reach 10,000, 20,000, 40,000 and 50,000, respectively”, confirmed Twitter India. It surpassed the record of 17,257 retweets of Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet acknowledging #ThankYouSachin messages on his retirement in November 2013.
